Parallect ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Parallect research platform at parallect.ai. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your information when you use our Services.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you purchase credits, we collect billing information processed by our payment provider (Stripe). Parallect does not store full payment card details.

Query and Research Data

We collect the research queries you submit, the AI-generated research reports produced on your behalf, and your interactions with those reports (sections viewed, exports, follow-up queries).

Usage Data

We automatically collect technical data including your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, session duration, and interaction patterns with the platform.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide the research aggregation and synthesis service
• Process payments and manage your account
• Improve platform functionality and user experience
• Detect fraud, abuse, and security threats
• Send transactional emails (research completion, account updates)
• Communicate product updates (with your consent)

3. Third-Party AI Provider Data Sharing

This is important: when you submit a research query, Parallect transmits your query to one or more third-party AI providers to generate research results. These providers may include:

• OpenAI (o3 / o4-mini deep research)
• Google (Gemini deep research)
• Perplexity AI (Sonar deep research)
• xAI (Grok)
• Anthropic (Claude)

Each provider receives your query, processes it using their AI models, and returns results to Parallect. Each provider maintains their own privacy policies governing how they handle your data. Parallect does not control how these providers process, retain, or use your queries once transmitted. You should review each provider's privacy policy before submitting queries containing sensitive or confidential information.

We use API-level integrations where providers have committed that data submitted through their APIs is not used to train their models. However, provider policies may change, and we will update this disclosure as we become aware of material changes.

4. Other Third-Party Services

We also share data with service providers who help us operate the platform:

• Stripe — payment processing
• Vercel — hosting and infrastructure
• Inngest — background job orchestration
• Neon — database hosting
• Resend — transactional email

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not share your data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data as follows:

• Account information: retained while your account is active and for 30 days after deletion to resolve any outstanding issues.
• Research queries and reports: retained while your account is active and for 90 days after account deletion.
• Usage analytics: retained for 12 months, then anonymized or deleted.
• Payment records: retained as required by applicable tax and financial regulations.

6. Your Rights

All Users

You can access, update, or delete your account information through your account settings at any time. You can delete individual research threads or your entire account.

European Union, EEA, and UK Residents (GDPR)

If you are located in the EU, EEA, or UK, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:

• Right to Access — request a copy of your personal data
• Right to Rectification — correct inaccurate data
• Right to Erasure — request deletion of your data
• Right to Restrict Processing — limit how we process your data
• Right to Data Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Right to Object — object to certain processing activities
• Right to Complain — lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights:

• Right to Know — what personal information we collect, use, and share
• Right to Delete — request deletion of your personal information

• Right to Opt-Out — opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell your data)
• Right to Non-Discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights

7. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption of data in transit (TLS), encryption of data at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

8. Data Breach Notification

If we discover a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you without undue delay and no later than 30 days after discovery. Notification will be sent to the email address on your account and will include a description of the data affected, the likely consequences, and what steps we are taking.

9. Children's Privacy

Parallect is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a prominent notice on the platform. Your continued use of Parallect after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
